Common questions
Why not just use the compass?
Inside buildings, steel, wiring and electronics push phone compasses off, often by 10 to 30 degrees. Mihrab uses your walls instead. Their direction comes from your building's outline on the map, so magnets can't affect it.
The app can't find my building
Your building may not be drawn on OpenStreetMap yet. Use the sun method instead, or add your building at openstreetmap.org, which helps everyone nearby.
How accurate is it?
About ±2–3° with the wall method when your building is mapped, and ±1–2° with the sun. The live arrow uses the compass alone, so treat it as rough indoors.
The result looks wrong
Touch a different wall and measure again. If the app suggests turning around, do it so it can re-check the compass. In daylight, the sun method is the best cross-check, and comparing with a nearby mosque's mihrab is the most reliable test of all.
Does it work offline?
Saved rooms work without internet or sensors. Measuring a new room with the wall method needs internet once, to load the building outlines.
How do I delete my data?
Everything is stored on your phone. Delete a room inside the app, or delete the app to remove everything. See the privacy policy for details.
